Hot Fudge Sauce Ice Cream Topping
Rich, velvety, and deeply chocolaty—this hot fudge sauce is the gold standard for a classic sundae. It’s luscious straight from the stove and even better poured over a scoop of vanilla or coffee ice cream.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- ⅓ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
Directions:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream and butter. Stir until the butter melts and the cream just begins to boil.
- Add the granulated and brown sugars. Stir gently over low heat until fully dissolved.
- Add the salt and sifted cocoa. Whisk carefully, continuing to stir until the sauce is completely smooth. Tip: Press out any stubborn cocoa lumps against the side of the pan with a spatula.
- Serve immediately for the best texture.
