
Butterscotch Sauce Ice Cream Topping
Nothing finishes a scoop of ice cream quite like the rich, buttery flavor of homemade butterscotch sauce. With its deep caramel notes and silky texture, this classic topping turns any bowl of ice cream into a decadent dessert.
Ingredients:
- 1⅓ cups firmly packed dark brown sugar
- ½ cup light corn syrup
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ⅓ cup heavy cream
Directions:
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, salt, and water.
- Bring the mixture to a full boil, stirring occasionally.
- Once boiling, immediately remove from heat.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly until smooth.
Yields: About 2½ cups
