Constant Comment Sorbet
Inspired by the beloved tea blend, this sorbet brings together bold black tea, citrus zest, and sweet orange juice for a sophisticated frozen dessert. It’s floral, fragrant, and just the right balance of sweet and tart—an excellent palate cleanser or light dessert to serve after a rich meal. Perfect for tea lovers or anyone looking for a refreshing twist.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Constant Comment tea leaves
- 2 cups cold water
- Four 1×3-inch strips orange zest
- 2 cups simple syrup
- 2 cups orange juice
Instructions:
- Steep:
In a mixing bowl, combine the tea leaves, cold water, and orange zest. Stir to fully saturate the tea leaves, ensuring they stay submerged. Cover and refrigerate overnight. - Strain:
Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve, pressing on the tea leaves to extract all the liquid. You should have about ⅓ cup of strong, concentrated tea. Discard the used leaves and zest. - Mix Base:
Combine the strained tea with simple syrup and orange juice. Stir until fully blended. - Freeze:
Pour the mixture into the bowl of your Whynter ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer’s instructions, about 12 to 15 minutes or until it reaches a smooth sorbet consistency.
Serving Suggestions:
Scoop into small glass dishes and garnish with a twist of orange peel or a sprig of mint. This sorbet also pairs beautifully with a shortbread cookie or a cup of hot Constant Comment tea for a refined touch.
