Using canned cherries makes preparation quick and simple, while a touch of lemon juice brightens every bite. It’s an elegant, no-fuss dessert that’s equally at home on a summer table or as a festive winter treat.
Ingredients:
- Three 16-ounce cans pitted Bing cherries in heavy syrup
- 2 cups simple syrup
- ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
- ¼ cup water
- 2 tablespoons reserved cherry syrup (from the can)
Instructions:
- Drain the cherries:
Reserve 2 tablespoons of the syrup and discard the rest. - Purée:
Pass the cherries through a food mill to remove any remaining skins and ensure a smooth texture. - Mix:
Stir in the reserved cherry syrup, simple syrup, lemon juice, and water until fully combined. Taste and adjust if needed. - Freeze:
Pour the mixture into the bowl of your Whynter ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
