 Whynter Portable Ice Maker Troubleshooting

Problem

Possible Cause

Solution

Ice maker is not making ice or ice cubes are really small
The refrigerant did not have enough time to settle after being transported.

It is recommended a minimum stabilization period of 12 hours prior to switching on the ice maker.
Also, it is recommended to run the ice maker for at least three cycles before using the ice.
The “Water” indicator is on Low water level. Stop the ice maker, fill it with water, then restart.
The “Ice” indicator is on The ice basket is full. Remove ice from the ice basket.
The “Water” and “Ice” indicators are both flashing The ice shovel is misaligned or cannot move. Check if the ice is blocking the ice shovel.
The ice cubes are too large with pieces sticking together The silver prongs of the evaporator are too deep in the water.

The water temperature in the inner tank is too low.

The evaporator can be bent upwards slightly to raise the prongs. The evaporator should be level.

Change the water in the inner tank. The ideal water temperature is 50°F-90°F.

Eliminating Plastic Taste on Start Up

Saturate a clean cloth with white vinegar.  Wipe down inside of water reservoir and ice tray (ice drawer & water drawer for Titanium ice makers.)

Fill reservoir / water drawer.  Turn the ice maker on, switch the unit off just before the compressor starts. Let water stand 12 hours.

After 12 hours, drain the water completely. Your ice maker is now ready to make great tasting ice.
Ice cubes are cloudy Due to fast freezing, ice cubes may appear "cloudy". This is trapped air in the water and does not affect the taste or quality of the ice.
The compressor works abnormally with a buzzing noise Voltage is not normal Stop the ice maker and do not restart it until the voltage is normal.

The unit only takes in water to up to the "Min." line when you first press the "Start" button, then it won't take in water until the 1st batch of ice is dropped. The unit does not take in water when ice making is in process so you will see the low water light blinks through out the process. There is nothing wrong with the unit as long as it keeps taking in water after each batch of ice and the green light stays on.

SNO 3 in 1 ICE-100S ice makers only:
Unit makes loud noise

The ice maker makes the loud noise when it is able to sense water in the manual fill compartment but not able to draw the water into the water tank. The loud noise is not an indication of any problem of the unit. Add more water to the unit or adjust the water bottle.

Whynter Outdoor Misting Fan Troubleshooting

Problem

Possible Cause

Solution

My fan wetting everything around
Misting nozzles are clogged.

Unscrew the misting nozzles one at a time and shake them. You should hear a clicking sound inside the nozzles because there is a small ball inside the nozzles to help the nozzles mist properly. If you do not hear a clicking sound, as your instruction book states, soak the nozzles in white vinegar.
The shroud cannot be installed Loosen, DO NOT REMOVE, the clips and screws located on the inside of the shroud. You should notice 2 protruding pieces of plastic directly under the clips. The rear grill sits between the clip and the plastic protrusions. Start your installation at the top of the shroud, it is o.k. to remove the large setscrew and clip located here. As you slide the rear grill in between the clips and screws on the shroud, it may be necessary to remove some of these clips and screws; however, DO NOT REMOVE ALL OF THEM.
